How many days do the collection agencies have to respond to my debt validation letter? I spoke with them and said that tomorrow will be 30 days and she told me it's still in "process" and that they don't have to repond within 30 days because I requested it.

I always heard it was 30 days. But when I called the FTC last week I'm pretty sure she said they had 45 days.

Adorkablevietz ,
Hello and welcome to credit magic. I myself recently sent out a debt validation. In my letter I requested debt validation with in 30 days. When I called them pertaining to this matter they informed me they actually had 60 days according to the law. Now I can not tell you for sure if this is true. I am just saying that this is what they had told me.
When people send out debt validation letters they are generally told to put the limit at 30 days and not less. I wonder why every site gives this advice if it is really 60. I have no clue.
