I have an unpaid hospital bill of about $22K. I am not US citizen and do not have any property here. I work on a temporary visa. I cannot afford to pay that high an amount. I guess, I can leave US in worst situation. What other options do I have? Any advice from your side would be really helpful

Have you checked with the hospital to see if they offer any type of charity care. Not sure if you would qualify but it's worth a try. It is based on your income. If you were in the hospital in the US then I would think you would qualify for this as well. Just call and check on it. They could pay a big part of the bill for you.

You can contact financial assistance or counceller from the hospital and contact them face to face to resolve the problem. Financial assistance can help in this situation. Most hospitals allow their financial assistance personnel a certain degree of latitude in evaluating hardship cases, so engaging them in a polite and courteous manner may help you as you negotiate your case
