I go to court on 14th being sued by LVNV for a legitimate debt originally 8,000.00 now 15,000 for late fees, etc. I have sent them the answer to validate debt and they didn't respond, only filed lawsuit in NC - what will they do to me - I lost my home to foreclosure, my fiance pays my car payment and I have a checking acct. with little money in it. I am terrified.

Hello myaveska ,
Have you considered bankrupcy at all? Chances are you will not be able to get them to back down and if this debt is not past the statute of limitations then they can sue you for the full amount. What you do need to do is make sure you show up at the court hearing no matter where it is at. If not they will get a default judgment and can attach future wages and your bank accounts. Go and let the judge know you asked fdor validation and did not get it. Hopefully you have sent the request for validation by certified mail so that you have proof you asked for it.

Google this lawsuit. it shows that it was a violation of the federal law to file a lawsuit before responding to the DV. OP! let us know what is happening.
