Recently i recieved a phone call from CCS stating that i owed a sum of 170.00 dollars from a bill i never paid to Travelers Insurance. The problem is that farmers never cancelled my insurance until 10/06/07 and it should have been when i changed coverage with another company on 8/22/07. I have been in contact with Travelers and I will actually be getting a refund what should i do.

I would provide CCS and Travelers with a copy of the declaration page from the new insurance carrier. Usually, the prior insurance carrier will cancellation date will coincide with the effective date of your new policy. I'm not sure of the state you are in but you are not suppose to be insured at the sam etime by 2 or more carriers. I hope this advice helps.

Hi Rich Kilmer,

It is quite possible that your policy was not canceled. Now you can send in a written application of cancellation of your policy under Travelers, reason being your coverage under some other company. If you have had a missed payment towards travelers, legally you are liable to pay that amount to them. However a you have been contacted by CCS you must inquire Travelers whether your debt has been sold to them and also demand a validation from CCS. Do not pay CCS unless you are sure that they owe the debt.

Hi MsHElp,

I really appreciate your effort to answer to the query but as far as I know it is quite possible to be insured under two or more carriers at the same time the effect being that if both the companies are providing coverage for the same cause, the company that was applied for later will not bear the coverage if the former is paying for it in any case.
