Credit reporting

Hi All,

I had some hard drives stolen in July and realized all of my financial information was on them. For safety's sake, I decided to close all of my bank accounts and reopen new ones.

I do most of my banking online - so called online banking and had them transfer my payments to this new account.

What they FAILED to do, however, was to transfer the recurring payment for my mortgage. I live overseas and only now received the notice letter saying that my mortage payment was 1 month and 10 days late. A pretty nasty letter included sayint that I, who have judiciously paid more than my share of mortgage each month, was at risk of loosing the house. So I called the company and made the payment due right away..explained to them what had happened. But they say they can't take "back" the report.

Is there anything I can do to get this off of my credit?
I can get letters from my bank explaining all of the problems and how I closed/opened accounts.. but i hate to have the dark star on my credit.

Please help.

Hi fermatt,

Unfortunately it is up to the mortgage company whether they will remove it or not.But I would get the bank to write the letter if they are willing to. It is worth a try. Because I think you have a good reason for being late.
