If you dispute an item on your credit report and the CA fails to validate the debt and they remove the item from your credit report, shouldn't they have to remove any inquiries they have also made regarding that account? I need real answers for this one and any case law would help alot.

Hi LT,

A hard inquiry can lower your credit score by 2 to 50 points. So, I would suggest that you send the collection agency, a letter to remove their inquiry from your credit report. You will find a sample Letter for Removal of Hard Inquiry if you visit the following link: http://www.creditmagic.org/letters/credit-inquiry.html .

The sample is a letter to the creditor. You can use the same format, but make the few necessary changes. You will have to replace the name of the creditor with the name of the collection agency.

Hope this will help.
