I made a mistake by settling with CA without any agreement to remove negative mark. It has been almost a year and now I want to remove this negative mark from my profile. The settlement was $100 on bal of $200. Can someone suggest what do I do? Thanks.

Usually negative items remain on your credit report for 7 years from the date of your first default. After 7 years it will automatically be removed from your credit report. Tell the CA to update your account status as “Paid-as-settledâ€. You can also request them to remove this negative item from your credit report. But it depends on their discretion whether or not to accept your request.
