Simple MOV or Method of Verification letter to CRA (Credit Reporting Agency) that actually works
The MOV letter is a response to the CRA failing to remove an inaccurate negative item from you credit report. This comes after you have disputed this item with collection and tradeline furnisher. It involves your right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to know how the CRA verified the tradeline on your credit report. You should be aware that the CRAs believe that the contact information printed in your tradeline satisfies MOV, and will respond with a form letter. This method jumps that hurdle and forces the CRA to investigate your dispute.
Dispute tradeline with Credit Reporting Agency in writing by certified mail. If the item is not removed then:
Dispute the tradeline with the TRADELINE FURNISHER by Certified Mail with Return Receipt Requested (CMRRR). Mail this to the exact address furnished on your credit report. If the letter is ignored or the response is unsatisfactory then:
Write the MOV letter. Here the beginning:

Sent via Certified Mail Article number
Dear CRA
I have contacted Xcompany (collection agency or original creditor) at the address you provided.
Insert copy of the offending tradeline. You can type cut and past this from an online report, but if possible scan it into your computer and insert it a picture in your letter.
Insert a copy of your green card return receipt. At this point you are saying, Xcompany received my letter on Xdate.
Insert a copy of Xcompany’s response, or state that you have received no response.
Write:
I am requesting a report your method of verification as required by the FCRA § 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]
(a) 6. B. (iii) a notice that, if requested by the consumer, a description of the
procedure used to determine the accuracy and completeness of the
information shall be provided to the consumer by the agency,
including the business name and address of any furnisher of
information contacted in connection with such information and the
telephone number of such furnisher, if reasonably available;
This letter will serve to notify you that it is impossible to verify the information that [insert CRA] is reporting through the contact information provided. Please consider this a letter of demand. I will expect your response within 15 days.

| Yes thank you. I have not heard of a MOV letter until now. I do see a lot of people asking what to do after disputing and this would seem like a solution. We do value your input here at the forum. Please continue with your valuable posts. |

thank you. I have learned this things from my experiences with help from forum sites. I have wanted to say that everyone is so nice! Some of the forums are while very knowledgeable, are incredibly snarky and down right mean to newbies. Of course intelligent criticism is very valuable. I don't consider myself an expert, and I am open to questions and requests for links.

the MOV letter is sent to the Credit reporting agency.
1. dispute tradeline with CRA
2. Dispute with tradeline furnisher (midland) by cmrrr --- this might be a 623 or DV letter
3. Send MOV to CRA with greencard and unacceptable response to CRA (midland's letter asking for proof) and ask how did you verify this entry if midland won't respond to me?

Hi
Thanks Cinnamngirl for your input. I just checked my CR and I found out that I have a credir card with CMG Credit for a credit limit of 12500$ which I never opened. now if I call the CRA to remove that account from my CR, is that enough or I have to call CMG Credit too??
