I had a Capital ONe bank credit card and when i moved i didnt chane my address with them . it is been two years. Now they wrote my debt as charged off and i want o get it fixed.I am so new to credit and all of that and have made my mistakes. But now i know better and want to get it fixed. How do i go about it ?

It is good that you caught it early and did not get too far down before climbing up.

You should try to contact who ever has this account and take care of it if you are trying to clean up your credit. You can find out who now owns it by contacting one of the three credit reporting agencies.

Hi ericvicer,

So, you wish to settle your debt and get rid of the negative item in your credit report. I would suggest you to check your credit report thoroughly and find out the name of the creditor/CA with whom you have to deal. You said that it is reported as a 'charge-off', that means your creditor has either sold off the debt to a CA or passed it to the collections department of the credit organization.

Find out whoever it is, and try to settle the debt either by calling them up or by writing a debt settlement letter. Once, they agree to settle, you can send a pay for delete letter asking them to remove the negative item from your account.
