Heritage

I got a collection letter from Heritage out of New Jersey, I have to say that they were one of the most pleasant collection agencies that I have dealt with. I am posting this because they do not fit the norm in a few different ways.

1. There professionalism and friendliness was not expected, they actually was very cooperative when I said that I could not do anything until the end of the month, no pushing me to make a payment today.

2. They are willing to settle for 60% of the debt, I found this very unusual because normally they will want 80% in any type of settlement offer, at least with the collectors that I have dealt with.

We spend a lot of time bashing the bad ones, I have dealt with so many that are just down right nasty that I felt compelled to come on here and let you know that there are still a few descent ones left.

Well, i was raised in socal, so i was brought up on the Dodgers and the then Los Angeles Rams---but that was way back in the last century!

Hey did I tell you guys that I could not come up with the entire amount and this Heritage place told me that I could pay $75 a month and then they would offer me a settlement in a few months, they are really easy to work with, unbelieveable!

Wow GN that is great. I am glad at least one collector knows how to work with a person. This is what I am talking about. If they all would just treat a person as a human being and work woth them they would see a better turn out on the repayment of debts. I am glad you can get this out of the way. They are not adding any interest fees on this debt in the mean time are they?

I know, I am really glad that they have decided to work with me on this, I assume they will be just as generous with their offer too. I just need a few months, have to get my heating coal done, a new windshield in my car, just things that are taking up my extra funds.

What doesn't take up the extra money anymore? I thought I was back on track and repairs left me in dispair. I am glad that company is working wiht you. Did they just come off as a workable collection agency or did you have to beg to get them to hear you? I really hope if they are on your credit record you remember about the pay for delete this time along. It is better to get this in place asap. If they worked with you graciously then they should also have no problem with this request.

I had to fork out $350 just this morning for 5 ton of coal this morning, in a few weeks will have to do it again and then I will be done for this winter. I need to work on being more prepared. I usually get my coal in October but really fell short this year. I am slowly but surely catching up though.

I know the feeling. I have put fuel in my tank for upward of three dollars and now all the prices fell by at least a dollar. This happened two years in a row but I was afraid and didn't have the fuel to wait it out. This year I hope to get in a outdoor furnace and then I can wait out the prices becasue I will have another form of heat. This is one of the main reasons you think people would work more with you (creditor) life sure isn;t easy this time of year.
