I settled a debt with credit card. Had it set up for the cc to take money from my bank account on a specific date. They did not take the money, Now they sent me a letter saying that I defaulted on the settlement. I would like to know what I should do now. They have started calling about 10 times a day. I have all of the info. as to who I talked to ,date, time, the settlement amount. Thank you for your help.

Did the credit card company debit money at least once from you bank account or they have not yet taken money from your account yet. If they have not yet taken money from your account, it means that you have not authorized them to take out money from your account and so you need to make the payment separately.
Do you have the settlement agreement from the credit card company in writing with you?

Hello candcort,

Have you fully explained this situation to them when they call? I would try contacting them one more time to make good on the arrangements you had set up with them. Try explaining to them that if they are not willing to work with you than you are going to contact both the BBB and your state attorney general's office. Then if they still are not willing to work with you then go ahead and do just that.

How sure are you that you gave them authorization to debit your bank account? I wouldn't go through all of the trouble unless you're 100% sure that an agreement was made.

Good luck
