Items removed from CR

Hello everyone,,

Well, it hasn't been easy, has taken many hours online and on the phone, blood, sweat and alot of frustration. But I finally got 5 inaccuracies off or at least updated from my Credit Report. The CB kept saying that the creditors needed to take care of these things and the creditors said it was up to the CB. What a headache.
They had two items,,electric bills that had been paid for 3 years that I couldn't get anyone to do anything. Both said they had no record of them.
It wasn't until yesterday when I let them know, Electric Co. that I had contacted our Att. General and My Fathers' Att. about this issue that they decided they had better do something. In a matter of hours they had removed both items. Altogether there were 5 items on my CR that were wrong. It has taken a year but I've paid whatever I owed and got the others removed or updated. Funny thing though, the score has not changed but I don't think they update that until the 24th of each month.
If not for some of you here, I wouldn't have been able to do this. From your advice, I began to go through my CR with a fine tooth comb and found all the things that were wrong and finally got it taken care of. Oh, and I have 4 letters proving the items were paid and should be getting one more from the Electric Co.
Thanks to John Hall from the Credit Bureau who advised me to call them and demand to speak to someone who could help, and don't fall for their saying there is no one, and they don't have a record of the items I was trying to get removed or updated.
My bankruptcy is still on there and keeping the score from being as high as I would like, but nothing I can do about that.

Thanks again for all of your great advice.

Hi DebR,

It is really good to hear that you have been able to remove the errors on your credit report. The best part is you did it on your own. Now you should try to be regular with with your payments. Making timely payment saves you from a lot of trouble.

As far as the bankruptcy is concerned, it will stay on your credit report for about 10 years. But with time if you build up a good credit history, the bankruptcy listed on your credit report will cease to affect your credit score.
