3 Things to do if you find ODPT/CBSD on your credit report

ODPT/CBSD stands for Office Depot Credit Card/Citibank South Dakota. If they are listed on your credit report, this means that you might have used an Office Depot card at some point in your life.

What to do if you find ODPT/CBSD on your credit report

Here are the 3 things you can do if you find ODPT/CBSD on your credit report:

  1. Check whether you owe the debt:

The first thing you should do is check whether you owe the debt. It could be that you took out the card a few years ago and completely forgot about it. Ask the Citibank representatives to validate the debt. If they can prove that you owe the debt, you should negotiate with Citibank to settle the debt before your account is sold off to a collection agency (CA). Once your account is sold off to a collection agency, it may be very difficult for you to settle the debt.

You can settle the debt on your own if you have good negotiation skills. However, if you're not sure you can settle the account on your own, get help from a debt settlement company. The representatives at the settlement company can help you to lower the payoff amount by 40% to 60%. However, once you've settled the account, ask the bank to update the account status on your credit report as "Paid in full" or "Paid as settled".

  2. Dispute the debt if you've paid off the account:

If you've already paid off the account but it's still listed on your credit report, then dispute it with Citibank or the credit bureau. You should dispute the account within 30 days of the bank's notice of the debt amount. Make sure you send the copies of the bills you've already paid to the bank. Once you prove that you've paid off the card, the bank must stop attempting to collect payments from you. The bank or credit bureau must then remove the ODPT/CBSD account from your report.

  3. Dispute the account if you don't owe the debt:

If you're sure that you have never owned an Office Depot card, dispute the account with Citibank or the credit bureau where you have gotten your credit report. Ask the representatives at the bank to verify that you owe the debt. If they don't agree to verify the debt, send them a letter asking them to stop contacting you. You should also ask them to remove the inaccurate information from your credit report as soon as possible.

If you want to contact Citibank for payment related problems or for any other issues, then contact them at the following address:

Citibank South Dakota
PO Box 6497, Sioux Falls
SD 57117

I think that it is some co-branded credit card with CBSD (Citi Bank South Dakota). Citi bank issues different types of credit cards and I think that ODPT is one of them, but I am not sure. So you should immediately contact the citibank at 1-877-319-7904. But the best think is to send citi bank a debt validation letter by certified mail and wait for 30 days for the response. If they can validate your debt you can come to know what is ODPT.

Yes CBSD is citibank South Dakota, but I am not sure of ODPT. You should contact the citibank immediately and inquire about the listing.

Is there a number for them? I believe I was just a victim of id theft/credit fraud as well.

Thu, 02/12/2009 - 17:51 Permalink

Hi Damian
If you are a victim of identity theft, you should immediately fill up an online identity theft complaint form with the Federal Trade Commission. Once you fill up the form, you get registered as a victim of identity theft. Next file a complaint with the local police by depositing a copy of the identity theft complaint form, and a photograph.
You should at the same time place a fraud alert service with any of the three credit bureaus.

RCEIVED MY CREDIT REPORT WITH THD/CBSD ON IT, TO MY KNOWLEDGE I HAVE NEVER HAD A ACCOUNT THERE. COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT IT WAS FOR AND TO WHOM IT WAS. THANKS SO MUCH.

Tue, 04/14/2009 - 14:27 Permalink

THD/CBSD is the home depot credit card from BofA. If you think that you do not have any credit card with them, you can simply dispute the listing with the credit bureaus. At the same time, you can also send a DV letter to the creditors to check whether you owe them the money or not.

Today I checked my credit report after getting a call from my bank saying that someone was trying to make a $1,100 charge using my debit card number. On my credit report I apparently have 2 different fraudulent credit cards one named Shell/Citi and the other CPU/CBSD. The funny thing is that one of them was opened before I was even born and the other was opened when I was 8 years old. Clearly I did not open these accounts and I will be contacting citi immedietly. I have seen many people saying they had these apparent credit cards on their credit reports as well. Seems like Citi has a habit of opening credit cards with peoples information without them even knowing about it or even being old enough to have one. The sad part is I actually do have a legit citi credit card which I do use and I am seriously thinking about transfering my balance to a different less fraudulent company!

I had the same item on my report, but I discovered that the credit card number matches my 76 gas station credit card. It could be someone else in your family has the account and has listed your name as a card user.

When you pay your debt with HD and it still shows as bad debt don't they have to show it as paid? My husband was in Iraq and since I was not the main person on his account they refused my payments so it was reported as a bad debt. I have payment proof that I settled with them 2 and 1/2 yrs later but don't they have to show it on the credit?

Thu, 10/01/2009 - 23:02 Permalink

Hi Carrie,

Were you a cosigner with your husband on his debts? If no, then how can the creditor ask you to settle his debts? Anyways, now you are saying that, you have settled with them but it is not reflecting on your credit report. Well, sometimes it takes long for the credit reporting agencies to get the credit report updated. You need to dispute the inaccurate information in your credit report through dispute letter with the bureau and remember to attach the settlement proof. You can also call the creditor and inquire whether or not they have informed the credit bureau.

Apparently the THD/CBSD or THD CBSD stands for The Home Depot.

Fri, 10/02/2009 - 17:39 Permalink

Alot of times Citibank will ask you to work out a payment plan with them before sending your account to a collection agency. That way once you settle with them, they will attempt to open your account with them again. Try to remove THD/CBSD from your CR through negotiation.

I just found out my credit score took a dive because of this Shell Credit Card I have had since 1983 took a charge off of $24 dollars in June 2009 . The date of first delinquency is listed as 10/2008. I never heard from them, I didn't get any bill. I wouldn't have just gone off and not paid. How do I get off my credit report?

Alfred

You can file a dispute with the credit reporting agency and they will contact the creditor to figure out it out.

You can also contact the company directly and ask them what is going on, seems like such a small amount, doesn't seem to enough to ruin a good credit score over.

Contact the credit reporting agency and the company directly to see if you can get any results. If you don't get results then further action may be needed. Let us know how you make out.

THD/CBSD is a Home Depot card issued by Citibank, not BOA

Have you reported this to your employer if it is on your government travel card? I think they would have to step in and do something about it because they have the administrative rights to the card..

Sun, 12/27/2009 - 15:31 Permalink

Oh no, hope this does not mess with your employment, if it does you will have one heck of a lawsuit against them huh

Sun, 12/27/2009 - 19:20 Permalink

That is a very valid concern peacockrancher, hopefully it don't mess the employment it up. I think if Lindsay brings it up to her employer then she should have nothing to worry about and they should be able to put some type of block on this activity.

Sun, 12/27/2009 - 20:11 Permalink

I would bring it up. Now a days they use your credit score and report for everything. Do you ever remember having this type of card?

I have an open account with a zero balance. I would like to close the account. Account Number: 7753-0100-6023. Is this possible?

Thu, 03/04/2010 - 19:31 Permalink

Hi Richard,

I don't think that its safe to mention your account number at a site. However, if you would have been more clear on what kind of account you have, how old it is, it would have been much easier to provide an answer to your question.

If the balance on the account is zero, and if there are no negatives on the account, then there is no need to close the account. If you close the account, all the history of that account will be lost from your credit report.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron

What is FRDF/CBSD?

Mon, 03/08/2010 - 02:28 Permalink

You will need to contact the company directly and let them know that you want to close the account, you can not close the account here.

Mon, 03/08/2010 - 02:57 Permalink

You can sometimes find the number on back of the credit card, if you have one from them. If not how about a STORE FRONT? iF THERE IS A STORE IN YOUR AREA you can sometimes go in their and get a cashier or customer service to take care of the closing.

I figured it out. My listing is from applying for a credit card from Office Depot.

Mon, 05/10/2010 - 15:55 Permalink

Hi,

You can send a debt validation letter to FRDF/CBSD. Can you tell whether or not you have ever applied for a loan? FRDF is the name of a store, and CBSD is the credit issuer. If you can't remember dealing with any such company, through debt validation you will come to know whether or not you really owe this debt.

Send the debt validation letter through certified mail, requesting a return receipt. If they fail to validate your debt, you can dispute the item off your report.

Thanks,

Aaron

I recently checked my credit report and it showed this late payment. In some 15 yrs with HD i have never had a late payment I did complain to both home depot and citi bank that I never received a late payment notification. I did receive a letter from you stating "unable to change the information reported to the credit reporting agencies listed below. as it accurately reflects your account history with us" This is poor customer service for I have never, repeat never paid a debt late. There must be something you can do. This entry affect my credit rating which I deeply resent. This is a matter of principle with me for I do have an excellent rating 755. I ask that you again review my account and considering the lack of notification or receipt of late payment that you remove this black eye from my credit reports. Thank You

This is listed on my credit report, research says RPL is Relianc Petrolium LTD. I don't know this account I have never had an account with CitiBank or Citi Cards. I contacted CitiBank and they gave me some information and I told them I wanted a verification of this account, they sent me a letter with the exact same info that is on the credit report. I sent another letter (certified mail w/ receipt) that they received Aug 12th and on the 22nd I received a collection notice from Northland Group for this account dated Aug 16th. I don't know what to do now. Citi Cards ignored my request and sent it to collection. I would gladly pay this account with proper proof. My bank has frozen my account because of this adverse post on my credit report......what can I do?

I have had this card since 1992 I receive al my bills through the mail. I pay some online. My grand daughter put this bill online. She forgot to tell me or her mother her mom pays my bills when I travel. Shell has put bad marks that brought my fico way down for a $54.00 bill that I never received and they wrote it off. I am sending out letters of dispute and also one to Shell. I talked with them. I would like to have this removed as I had no knowledge of this bill and would not have ruined my credit over this small ammount.Am I following the correct procedure. I can't say what I want in 100 words and have letters from my daughter and grand daughter. I also would like to know if you have the dispute address for Citi CBNA/Shell Thanks
