several years ago, we were suffering financially and did not pay a credit card debt. a judgement was ordered against me .

Recently the sheriff came and took my auto for the order of the judgement or lien.

Can they do this to me in Florida?

Was your vehicle paid off? I am not sure what the laws are as far as judgements in Florida, but I am positive that someone here will be along soon and further advise you on what they can and can not do.

Not sure about them being able to take your car but I have heard they can put a lien against your car, house ect. for a judgment.

Hello dmflores,

I should say that this depends totally on the SOL of your state. SOL can be as low as 3 - 6 years, and can even be as high as 10 or 15. So you should check out on this. It also differs on the type of contract.

Moreover whether or not can they take away your auto depends on the contract you had made. Whether or not there was a lien on your auto.

Thanks,

Aaron
