I have just been informed by ICS that I have paid a total of $2400 on a $200 loan via ACH debit since December 2005. I was also told that I need to pay an additional $289 to have the loan paid off. I live in the state of Louisiana and the $89 that is being taken out is so called extension fees. Is this legal and can I get some of my much needed money back?

Hi Domino,

You should not pay them $289 to have the loan paid off. As already you have paid more than what was required.

Check the details about the laws in your state from the site paydayloan.org and also send complaint to the consumer division of Attorney General's Office of your state. What they are doing is completely illegal and is loan sharking.
