Only one negative

Hello everyone,

About 3 years ago I bought a laptop with my credit card, and my mom agreed to make the payments on it. My score was about 757 at that time. I assumed that the account was payed off. However, recently I found out there was a $1 balance on the account that had been overdue for more than 90 days. My scored dropped to 667.

This is the only negative mark on all 3 of them. Shouldn't my score be more than that? I have 3 other credit cards that I pay off as I use, a car loan, and a few bills under my name.

Hi Birdine,

Other than the balance, what is the status of this account? Is it still with the creditor or has been sent to collections? You can talk to the creditor, or the collection agency with whom the account is, and get an agreement in writing. Also request the creditor or collection agnecy whoever you are paying to agree to a "Pay for Delete" (PFD) agreement. With the PFD the negative will get deleted from your credit report. However, not all creditors, and collection agencies agree to PFD.

Thanks,

Aaron

Something isn't adding up here. If they were reporting $1 being over 90 days there would be at least (3) $29-35 late fees, bring your balance well over $100 with finance charges and such. If they are only reporting $1 then it is prob. a book keeping error. Not to mention where were they sending the statements, obviously if you found out about them from your credit report you weren't getting the statements. From what you have stated it seems like an error on the creditors part that should be easily taken care of with a phone call.

Good luck.
