My car was charged off years ago. i still have it. the loan was sold to several different companies and i have no idea who had it last and what to do from here. i realize i can't sell it without the title, so how do i go about fixing this?

Hi tlittle,

Welcome to this community :)

You need to pay off this debt in order to get the title. To find out who now holds the debt, check your credit reports. Each and every tradeline is listed there on your credit report. From your report you will get to know the name, address and phone number of the collection agency. You will also get to know who was your original lender.

If you want to remove the charge-off from your credit report you will have to negotiate with your original creditor. But in your case I don't think it's possible as several companies have already tried to collect it. In this situation you will have to deal with the collection agency. Get a payment agreement in writing.

Thanks,

Aaron
