On termination of my employment, my employee paid a garnashee order even though I had some weeks before provided a bankruptcy number. They are now advising as they didn't receieve the paperwork for the bankruptcy the number was irrelevant.
They have also put on my final payslip that the money was paid into my bank account yet they have acknowledged it wasn't. Surely this is a legal issue as well?
I have unpaid expensed from the company that they acknowledge but have advised they will send a cheque only after I confirm there will be no legal action taken against them. I see this as a bribe.

Do I have a legal angle to have the money paid to me from the company?

Did they acknowledge it again in writing? It seems you're into a pretty complex situation, and I don't see any way out excepting a lawsuit being filed.
