My husband and I both receive Socia Security Disability. He also is a Civil Service retiree and receives an annuity and a military retirement pension. Since he cannot work any longer, if it goes to court, can they garnish from our bank account?
See, for co-mingled funds it is often difficult to trace which portion is exempted and which portion isn't. Banks will often achieve a garnishment order against such funds. You being a beneficiary will need to take the responsibility and show which funds are exempted. In that case, you'll need to hire an attorney and fight it out in the court.
