Beides paying off the house we have finally got brave enough to open a small business, we opened it in August. It is a seasonal hunting shop. We did really well and expect things to be even better next season.
Wow the paperwork, tax time, new bank account for it, etc. Inventory, I have been contemplating investing in one of the scanners to get rid of the paperwork, especially for inventory. If anyone knows of a good one that don't cost an arm and a leg I would appreciate it. Needs to be easy to use also.
We have to file our taxes with the business since it is under our social security numbers, IRS is making small business wait till around March for all the new forms. Got a tax lady to take care of all that.
If anyone has any suggestions or tips for new business I would appreciate that too.

I know this is old, but if you are reading, I would recommend investing in an inventory scanner. Research the different brands and find one that will serve all of your inventory needs, and maybe try to find a used one on eBay or craigslist.
