Brand new medical collection paid and removed?

I have a medical collection that I was not aware of popped on my report 2 weeks ago. Is there any way to pay the bill and have the line item removed?

Once a negative entry enters your credit file, it stays there for 7 to 10 years. Now, if you pay the collection account, it might make your credit a bit better as ‘paid collection’ looks better than ‘unpaid’.

However, you can request the agency to take the item off once you pay the bill in full and do not forget to get it in writing from them.

Is the debt legit?

BTW, welcome aboard :D

STOP, before paying anything.

By federal law, "pop ons' on our credit reports,
requires the CAs to send a written notice to you
within five days of communication through
any medium. Yes, Reporting information about an alleged
debt to the CBs is a form of communication. In Florida,
our state law requires the CA to send written notice
within five days after Assignment of the
alleged debt.

So my Questions are:
1. What State do you reside in?
2. Did you get a timely Validation Notice?
3. Did the CA report the correct Date of First Delinquency on this
alleged debt? The CAs usually report [some current date],
NOT the true DOFD. This is called illegal Re-aging.

Where the CA had clearly violated federal and/or state
laws, use that as leverage to get the item completely
removed WITHOUT paying. Tell them, if they do not
remove it immediately, you will file a detailed
complaint with the FTC and your State Attorney General
and their State Attorney General concerning Re-aging
and other serious violations.

Hope this response is helpful.
