I can't pay a 1/2 of a judgement issued towards me from another state. What is the max amount that can't be garnished in florida? I owe half of a judgement but i bring home between average $200-280 per week. Will the attorney's hands be tied to pursuing their money?Help

Hi Photi,

In Florida, there is one good thing about wage garnishment. The wage of the head of the family in Florida is exempt from any garnishment under the rules of the Federal Law. As a head of the family if you have never agreed to garnishment of wages, then creditor will not be able to garnish your wages.

Can I know what this judgment is about? However, Federal Law limits the maximum amount of garnishment in Florida for those who do not qualify as the head of the family. It is 25% of disposable income, or 25% of your weekly wages. It is 50% for child or spousal support.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron
