I am getting calls from a company now saying that an officer is going to serve me papers and I am on my second attempt. I have a couple credit cards that I defaulted onthe most was less than 3000. And they said it was in miami. I live in CA I am so confused I'm pretty sure the last payment anyone rec was in 2009 or 2010. Any advise?
My credit has been demolished. I will list all the reasons.
a: I fell late on my mortgage for two months. My ex-husband told me, if I sign the house over to him, he will pay it. He did, but it still is on my credit report.
b: Someone was using my social security number. I froze my credit reports and nothing happened.
c: I am a disabled veteran and my SSI and VA money was stolen in the month of December 2011. About 100,000 disabled vet's had the same problem as me, so I still haven't been reimbursed.
With all these problems, where should I start?
I obtained a loan on a vehicle for an X-friend who agreed to pay off loan then I would sign over title and re-license in his name. Also to repay me half the down payment made at time of purchase when title is transferred.
The person has moved with no forwarding address and continues to drive the car. How do I proceed to render the car unusable, and my name removed from all responsibility?

What type of loan? Do you have any documents in which the loan amount has mentioned? If yes, then show it before the credit bureaus. If no, then it’s very difficult to prove the exact loan amount.

You should contact with your original creditor and ask them about the debts. I hope he/she will tell you the name of the collection agency to whom your account has been sold.
Contact with Portfolio Recovery Associates and try to set up a payment plan with them. I think you should consult with an attorney in this regard before contacting with them.
I have an old judgement (2006) on my county public records. My wife at the time was not turning our rent checks I gave her. The apartments filed a judgement. I found out when I received a court summons one night. I appeared in court. The judge said we could work out an agreement to pay and the judgement would be dropped. I stepped in the hallway with apartment manager and discussed what had happened. She said I could pay that day and the judgement would be dropped. I paid in full that afternoon. I thought everything was taken care of.
I received a post card appearing to be from Fashion Bug where I have a credit card. It stated that I was a loyal customer and they were offering me an exclusive 'thank you' gift valued @ $50. All I had to do was call the number and pay shipping & handling of $6.99.
I called the number and they began their sales pitch to get this gift I would be entered into a jewelry of the month type club, and each month I would get a $50 piece of jewelry plus shipping and handling, and my card would be charged.
