You may make a written request to Asset Acceptance to remove the negative items from your credit report after repaying the debts. But it entirely depends on their discretion whether or not to accept your request. You may also request them to update your account status as “Paid-in-full” or “Paid-as-settled” as per your terms.

I have a big credit card debt spread over several companies. Haven't paid anything to them in three years. They have about run me crazy calling but I never answer the phone. Hoping they will give up. The debts have gone thru several different collection/lawyers, don't the collectors have to provide original debt papers?I have no job and my husband is retired and on social security. We own our house but have nothing else. what can they do?

Did a CA sell my debt to a second CA??

Hi, I'm new here! About a year ago a private student loan from Bank A was sent to a collection CA, Company B. I made a balloon payment with them and set up a payment plan that I've paid on time for a year. Now I've gotten a letter from a different collection agency, Company C, trying to collect the remainder of the debt. The original lender is still listed as the the creditor and I'm instructed to make payments to them.

My questions:

Validation response incomplete. What now?

I am a Florida resident and I sent a letter to the collection agency requesting validation of the debt. They responded 42 days later with a letter stating:
- The name of the original creditor.
- Account number.
- Balance.
- My name and last 4 of SSN.
- A statement that they've purchased the debt, but no proof.
