A year ago I went to the hospital emergency room, and was unable to pay the amount billed at the time. The bill was unfortunately put on the back burner and forgotten over time, so the hospital reported it to a debt collection agency who began reporting it to a credit reporting agency.
I have a charge off in my credit report. It has been more than 9 years. Is it a good idea to pay off the debt or is there a way to remove the charge off out of my credit report?

I think he said his name is Mike or Mark Lawson. I'm not an idiot, I know it is a scam. But, how do I make them stop calling me?
