Taken out an extra credit card

My mother has taken out an extra credit card on her account around 5 years back. She did it so that I can use it for renovating my grandmother's house. I have used the card for only 3-4 months. After that, I have never used the card. But last week, I got a call from the card company. They told I owe around $5000 on the card. How is this possible? i have not applied for the card so I must not owe the debt. Am I right?

Are you an authorized user or a joint account holder? If you are an authorized user, then you are not responsible for the debt. But if you are a joint account holder, then you are equally responsible for the debt.

There are a couple of cedirt cards for people with bad cedirt. Continental finance, first premier or orchard bank are among the best. Most of them do not require cedirt check. Good luck.
