Is there any example of a creditor's DV letter?

Essentially, you've got to include all the necessary evidences while crafting the debt validation letter. Suppose, you have a credit card account, then in that case, you must list all the records of transactions that you've made using it.

Apart from that, you'll also have to include the dates, amount, name of the merchants for all the purchases made therein, date & amount of every repayment, and a letter from the original creditor describing when and how you opened the account and a copy of the application form, provided you've got one with you.

A lot of collection agencies get into mishaps by giving insufficient validation, often with fake proofs and thus, end up in court, quite a number of times with the consumer as well as state/government agencies in tow. More, some prominent debt collection agencies even had to pay hefty fines for they were sued by the FTC for violating the FDCPA.

The moment you've requested for the validation of the debt claimed, then they can't collect any payment whatsoever, unless they've given some solid proof against the same. There are CAs who ignore such request and so, they end up in the court facing lawsuits for resorting to coercive collection tactics not prescribed by the law.
