Hi all. I recently obtained a copy of all three credit reports and found a couple of accounts that I didn't recognize.

I attempted to contact the banks myself - but got the run around - if they are my accounts - I want to do the right thing!!!

Soooo....I disputed the accounts via the credit bureaus. Two of the four were deleted, one is still being investigated and one was "updated" which resulted in my credit score DROPPING 30 points.

really?

Hi I have two payday loans that I am trying to pay off, yes I am aware that is was not a good idea but my daughter is a freshman in college and her financial aid did not cover everything. Is there a company that can help e with this debt so I can lower the payments and combined them into one, until I pay it off?

Welcome to the forums!!!
Usually negative items remain on your credit report for 7 years from the date of our first default. You may make a written request to the collection agencies to remove that item from your credit report. But it depends on their discretion whether or not to accept your request. You may also request them to update your account status as “Paid-in-full”.

i had my wages garnished back in 2006 due to an outstanding personal loan. my employer thought the debt was paid in full and stopped the garnishments. however, they didn't take into consideration the interest and there was still a balance. once the garnishments stopped, i thought it was finished. but...6 years later (today) i find out that i'm still obligated to pay this balance that has been accruing 10% all of these years.

IF IT WAS MY EMPLOYER'S MISTAKE, AM I STILL OBLIGATED TO PAY THIS DEBT NOW?
